Frequently asked questions
What is ethmemphis?
EthMemphis is an event for Ethereum enthusiasts and developers to work on real business-driven applications. The 36-hour Hackathon will also include some talks and workshops given by top blockchain influencers and experts. The purpose is to start bridging the Ethereum ecosystem with the existing business world to provide immediate value. You just bring your laptop and some friends and we'll provide the food and coffee.
Who can participate?
Anyone can apply to participate. Priority will be given based on interest in Ethereum and demonstrated ability to meaningfully contribute to a project. Applications from any corner of the globe will be accepted. If you have something you think you can add to the ecosystem – whether it's a knack for crafting white papers, a creative design perspective, or an entrepreneurial vision – we welcome your talents and will help you find the best team.
How many people can be on a team?
Teams are comprised of two to four individuals. If you don’t already have a team in mind, that's great! We will help connect you to other participants with complementary abilities.
What if I don't have a team?
If you don’t have a team, don't worry! We'll host a few pre-Hackathon sessions on Friday where you can meet potential collaborators.
What if I've never participated in a Hackathon before?
Come anyway! Just be eager, coachable and open. You never know what you will help create.
Can I start working on my project before the Hackathon?
No. Pre-existing projects will not be considered for prizes. You may, however, build a new feature for an existing project that is unique and standalone. Judges will make the final decision on whether a project will qualify for prize consideration.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your own laptop computer. We will provide tables, chairs, power chords, and a strong WIFI connection.
How does judging work?
Judges will score your project based on two categories:
Utility - Is it useful?
Design - Is it beautiful?
is food provided?
Yes, all hackathon participants will have food, beverages, and snacks provided for them.
